CAUTION - IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR X-DRIVE

  • Remove system from kayak during transport.
  • Keep hands clear of kayak scupper area when deploying or swapping the pedal drive.
  • Be aware of your environment when operating the pedal drive.
  • Avoid collisions and impacts to the pedal system.
  • Raise unit when launching and coming ashore.
  • Ensure the pedal drive is fully secured and locked into mounting bracket before operating.
  • Always take a paddle and PFD on board with you.
  • Rinse the system with fresh water after use in brackish or salt water.

In addition to these selected warnings, please comply with the complete operating manual.

TRANSPORTING THE MAKANA 100

When transporting your Makana on a rooftop or trailer with crossbars, ensure that the inserted pod is not resting on the bar when you have tightened down your straps. If the pod is resting on the bar, either remove the pod for transport, or reposition the kayak until the pod is not contacting the crossbar.

NOTE: If you tighten the straps and transport it while the pod is resting on the bar, you run the risk of damaging your latches or the retaining ledge on the kayak itself.

J-Cradle transportation is possible with the Makana. Please ensure that the cradles are tall enough to support the kayak properly, it is wider than many 10ft kayaks, so it is important to pay attention to this when deciding which J-Cradles to use. Vibe J-Cradles – available for purchase on our website – are perfectly suited for using with the Makana.
